ACS - Field Archaeologist

Archaeological Consulting Services (ACS), now a Commonwealth Heritage Group, Inc. Company, has been providing cultural resource services in Arizona for 44 years and environmental planning services for 20+ years. ACS, now the Tempe, Arizona office of Commonwealth, is seeking to hire five Field Archaeologists for a one-to-two-week data recovery project at the beginning of November in Florence, AZ. A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a couple of months of previous field experience, preferably in Arizona, are required.

The duties of this position may regularly require standing, walking or climbing into and out of trenches and excavation units, using hands to manipulate items and to lift or carry them, talking, and hearing. They occasionally require crossing uneven terrain, climbing over fences, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Pay levels are competitive and commensurate with experience. The benefits that come with this position are one hour of sick leave earned for every 30 hours worked, up to a total of 40 hours per year under the new Arizona state law. Lodging and per diem are provided for the working days. There is the potential for follow-on work.
